Gwen the love interest.

I'm a big fan of the "Spiderman" movies, and loved the most recent reboot, "The Amazing Spider-Man".
I mean who doesn't love a good lookin' man swinging around New York City in spandex?! Totally hot.

For this shuffle I focused on Gwen Stacy's (Emma Stone) character costume design from the movie.

She wore several skirts, favored neutral colors, and wore simple patterns like small poka-dots and small stripes.

Of course gotta have the boots!

Layers!

Maybe one day you'll find a love that sends you higher than the empire state building!

Oh Earth, how I love thee.

Happy Earth Day!

We live in a day and age where most of us don't appreciate nature as we should.

Earth day is a day to reflect upon the current situations of our environment, and what we could do to improve these places we inhabit. We can pick up litter, use less water, recycle, and be careful with our energy consumption. I know I could always improve in those areas.

I encourage you to make it a point at sometime today, this week, or anytime soon to spend some time outside. Pure sunshine in controlled amounts is actually very healthy for your body! (Vitamin D can do wonders for your health, and it makes you happier in the long run!) Get some rays, and smile!

A picnic is a wonderful way to spend some time with nature and friends. Anyplace will do, open skies, and a patch of grass for a blanket to be spread upon. Here's some picnic tips.

Let's pledge to enjoy being natives of this beautiful and phenomenal planet. Celebrate its beauty!

Florals and a hat ready for a day out in the sun!

"If you could change your fate...would ya?"

This shuffle was inspired by Princess Merida from Disney Pixar's Brave.
She's feisty, fiery, and ready to change her fate. Similar to what I think every woman should at least try once!

Merida is a princess that dreams to follow her own path, and fights for what she believes in. She is courageous and compassionate. She is in fact "brave". She also can handle a sword and practices archery (Past times I enjoy myself!).

Orange headband to account for her shocks of red hair, A blue dress similar in color to Merida's main gown. (I added a golden pennant, and a ribbon trim to the neck line.) Layered leg warmers, tights, and boots complete the look.

"Its bigger on the inside."

This shuffle was based off of Doctor Who's trusty T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time and Relative Dimension in Space).

Want to travel to any time or location in the universe? The Tardis has you covered. Although the Tardis does have a mind of her own, and has established that she travels using her own free will.

Souffle Girl.

Today's shuffle is everyone's favorite 'Souffle girl', Clara Oswin Oswald. Clara is the Eleventh Doctor's new companion. She is the woman who lived and died twice, and has sparked a renewed curiosity in the Doctor.
Inspired by her Victorian Barmaid costume in the episode "The Snowmen".

Dreaming for a kiss.

For today's shuffle, I went for a more casual Snow White look. Don't we all wish we had a similar sleeping schedules to hers every once in a while? I know I do! Our headbands match. :)

Snow White Trivia:
Some animators were opposed to the name Dopey, claiming that it was too modern a word to use in a timeless fairy tale. Walt Disney made the argument that William Shakespeare used the word in one of his plays. This managed to convince everyone, although any reference to the term "dopey" is yet to be found in any of Shakespeare's work.

A season to be "Twitterpated"!

It's a joy to be twitterpated! Thumper the rabbit.

Springtime is here! So I wanted to do some spring-time themes. Today, I'm Thumper!

Plus who doesn't love the snuggly-adorable woodland animals from Disney's original animated film "Bambi" (1942). I had a movie poster of Bambi in my bedroom as a child, and I always loved looking at the flowers printed on the paper.

Here are some facts that I found about the film "Bambi".

  • Bambi was intended to be Disney's second animated feature film, and pre-production began in 1936. But Walt's quest for perfection delayed the production, and four other films were completed and released before Bambi.
  •  Various animated sequences from Bambi were reused in other Disney feature films. Bambi and his mother appear in The Rescuers. Bambi's mother appears in the very first shot of Beauty and the Beast, and also in The Sword in the Stone, and The Jungle Book.
  • Some of the scenes in the film (woodland creatures and the forest fire) are actually unused footage from Pinocchio.

Thumper!

"Come on Bambi!!"

A gray headband, shorts, and cardigan to match his gray coat. Pink undertones to match his little nose and toe pads. White shrug to credit his big fluffy tail! Floral tights represent the flower beds he plays with his friends in.

"Oh Mr. Darcy!"

I recently re-watched the 2005 film version of "Pride and Prejudice", and was in awe at just how beautiful that movie is. The cinematography, the locations, the music, the costumes, and of course the dashing and mysterious Mr. Darcy. *le sigh*....

Today's ensemble was inspired by the color palette of the movie. The colors of the females in the film are very muted, and  refer back to the English countryside. Less intense colors, simpler and more rustic fabric textures. However, when the sisters are in town or in London the colors and costumes are more vibrant.

I went for a natural-toned palette with a wooden-carved headband, hair up in a cream ribbon, basic lace up ballet flats, and a leather bound journal to complete the look.

Bunnytime!

Happy Easter Everyone!

Remember the reason for the day, and proclaim "He is risen!"

The only time of the year you can get away with wearing bunny ears in public. ;)

One of the best parts about Easter is that the day after, you can get chocolate bunnies on clearance! The ears are of course the most delicious part!

Les Mis Fever!

For my first official shuffle post I'd like to share my Les Miserables outfit.

Now, keep in mind that I've been putting together outfits for a few months, so some of the outfits posted will be in non-sequential order. (And some of the pics aren't so great.)

Vive la Revolution!! Les Miserables outfit.

I put this together around the time Les Miserables was in movie theaters. "Say Kelcie, why do you have a Les Mis t-shirt?"

Delighted you asked! A few years ago I was in a production of Les Miserables! I played Fantine, and the show has a very special place in my heart. I just can't stop loving/singing it! I'm also a purist when it comes to the movie vs. the play versions of Les Mis. I personally favor the stage version more because that's my field, everyone is entitled to their opinion. (But seriously....go see it in London. Seeing it live will change your life guaranteed!)

The hat was inspired by Eponine's page boy hat. I have a chain key necklace on which was derived from Cosette's and Marius' "chain that will never break" lyric in their love duet "A Heart Full of Love". A red camisole to show my support of the revolution, and to signify that I really do "Hear the People Sing". Plus barricade battle boots ground me in my place.

"I Dreamed A Dream". How about you?

So define a Wardrobe "Shuffle".....

Not to be confused with a "wardrobe malfunction".

A Wardrobe Shuffle: To take what one already owns in their personal wardrobe, closet, chest of drawers, trunk, Mary Poppins carpet bag, etc; and mix and match the individual garment pieces together in ways never done before in order to create new and interesting ensembles.

A few months ago, I found myself standing in front of my wardrobe with a complete and utter fashionista-fearing creative outfit block. (That's like writer's block without the blank paper). I realized I was having trouble putting together outfits that seemed fresh.

I've been studying acting and have a background sewing and creating costumes for theatrical purposes, and in that world we try to use our existing resources before ever resorting to making purchases. So I decided to put those scavenger skills I learned in the costume studio to the test. I gave myself a challenge to see what ensembles I could create. Inspired by anything I love, and those around me, I quickly began formulating outfits that I never knew I had!

It such an exciting experience to rediscover your clothes. (Not to mention its very healthy for your wallet!) That old blue dress suddenly became reminiscent of one of your favorite action scenes of a  particular movie. The forgotten scarf suddenly has a new lease on life, and the once-gaudy ring you bought on clearance has discovered its purpose in the great clothing life-stream.

New clothing trends are always fun to try, but they can put a mega-drain on your hard-earned cash. Now I'm not bashing the ancient art of shopping, or dissing the use of retail therapy. (What kind of a woman would I be if I did?!) I'm simply suggesting to go through what you already you own before spending a fortune on that frothy pink dress when the dusty-rose wrap dress you purchased a year ago will work just fine.

Fashion is a wonderful way to express your beautiful and lovely self. If you love electric blue jeggings, with a space patterned burn-out tee, and orange hair bows: You ROCK IT! I want to spread the message that you don't have to dress to please others. You costume your life in what makes you happy, for no one else's benefit. There are always exceptions to when we can wear whatever we please, but when it comes to everyday life, wear what you love because life is too short to look like every other girl or boy dressed in the same name-brand shorts, shirt, and flip flops.

Let the shuffling commence!
